Integrating with Jira helps align teams by providing the context of why their work matters to customers and the business. When a Jira issue is linked to a Vistaly solution, individual contributors can see what their work is connected to and how it’s measured.

Installing the Vistaly Jira App

To install the Vistaly Jira app, visit the integrations page and select the ‘Add to Jira’ button.

 The button will open a new window where you can install the Vistaly app to your Jira site. Next, select the “Get app” button.
Get App
 A popup will show a list of available Jira sites to install the app. Select the correct site, and then install the app. (Most teams have one site)

 Navigate to the “Manage your apps” page and select Vistaly in the lefthand menu bar. Next, select “Allow access” to allow Vistaly permission to connect.

 Now that the Jira site has access to share data with Vistaly, select which Vistaly organization allows access to the Jira site.

Linking to Jira from Vistaly

With the Jira integration installed and the Vistaly organization connected, solution cards in the Vistaly board will now have a Jira tab. Select the Jira tab on an unlinked solution, this will present two options, Create & Link a Jira issue, or link to an existing Jira issue.

 After selecting the “Create & Link” there will be a list of valid Jira boards and issue types. Select the corresponding issue type.

Vistaly supports required custom fields of types text and numeric. However, if your Jira workflow enforces other custom attribute types on creation, please use the “link workflow” until additional field types are supported. See “Linking existing issues” for more information.
If you link to an existing issue, enter the Jira Issue ID.

 Once the issue is created and linked, the Jira issue details and external link will be available.

Linking to Vistaly from Jira

To link from Jira to Vistaly, enter the Vistaly solution card identifier you wish to connect within the issue.

Select the correct card in Vistaly and copy the identifier from the URL to get the solution card identifier.

Updating the Vistaly Jira App

If a new version of the Vistaly Jira App is available, you can update it by navigating to the following url (make sure to replace with your appropriate identifier) and selecting “Update”.
